Clay Cross, is a bustling area as major regeneration taking place. There are thousands of new builds bringing a new lease of life into the community along with recent investment from the government.
Conveniently located in Clay Cross, you have three large national branded supermarkets – Tesco, Aldi and Iceland. There is an abundance of independent shops and services to cater for all your needs.
On Carnforth drive retail area you can find Home Bargains ,McDonalds and Costa Coffee. This area is also due to add further retail establishments in the future.
Serving the community is a Sharley Park leisure centre, this is currently closed undergoing a huge refurbishment as part of a £29million investment into leisure services in North Derbyshire.

Clay Cross Social Centre offers a broad range of social activities for all ages. Bingo, Sequence Dancing, Kurling and an over 60s lunch club are just some of the activities on offer. Planning a special occasion or wedding? The Centre is the perfect place to hire with a fully functioning bar having been refurbished following major investment in 2023.
The small but well stocked Library of Clay Cross serves the local community and school groups with occasional events and activities.
Take a stroll around the stunning, recently transformed Kenning Park, located close to the high street. The park has a pond that is home to local wildlife and promotes habitat enrichment and biodiversity in the area. Kenning Park is host to a fantastic forest school. Classes are available for school age children on Saturday mornings and pre school children on Thursday mornings. They offer adult forest and craft experiences throughout the year so nobody need miss out
For younger children there is Buddies Play Den located on Bridge Street. The centre is perfect for children’s parties, a rainy day or chance for a brew with friends while the children play.
Clay Cross is rich in Independent fitness and wellness facilities such as The Body Health Centre , Well fit Warehouse, ProFitness Gym and Commando Temple Peak District. Additional to this, you can join Run Free for their 5km Sessions every Sunday Morning, meeting at the Iceland carpark at 09.20am.
Clay Cross is a great area for commuters, it has the A61 running straight through the area, creating quick and easy access to Chesterfield and Derby. Also, Junction 29 of the M1 motorway is only 4.5 miles away which connects London to Leeds.
For going out of the area by public transport, Chesterfield Train Station is only 6 miles away and has lines going to Sheffield, Nottingham, Leeds, London St Pancras and more.
The High Street is a hub for independent eateries and bars with others situated in walking distance.
