A large, vibrant market town steeped in history, Chesterfield is famed for its crooked spire. Built on a Roman Fort the town dates back over 2000 years ago.

Other historical landmarks in Chesterfield include Chatsworth Estate, Hardwick Hall, Bolsover Castle and Renishaw Hall and Gardens.

Revitalising the Heart of Chesterfield project is an ongoing major regeneration scheme that will revitalise and better connect key areas of the historic town centre, and revamp the striking Stephenson Memorial Hall.

LOCAL AMENITIES IN CHESTERFIELD

The town has easy access to major supermarket brands including Aldi, Tescos, Asda, Lidl and Morrisons. Smaller convenient stores are dotted around the town in walking distance. Ravenside Retail Park is home to B& M, Next, M&S, Hobbycraft, Asda Home, Pets at Home, Poundland and Currys.

Walking distance from the town centre is Queen’s Park, a scenic park with a lake home to wildfowl, cricket grounds, cafe and playground. Next to the park is Queen’s Park Sports Centre with a wide range of health and fitness facilities. Following a 2 million National Lottery grant the centre reopened in 2016 after an extensive state of the art refurbishment.

Chesterfield has a fantastic selection of schools, from nursery to high schools. Located around the town, several are rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted including Brockwell Junior School and St Mary’s Catholic High School.

LEISURE AND ACTIVITIES

Chesterfield offers a wide array of restaurants serving cuisines from all around the world. Chatsworth road is a hotspot for restaurants, bars, cafes, pubs and chic eateries.

You can catch blockbuster films at the ten screen Cineworld cinema located in walking distance from Nando’s, Mcdonald’s, Harvester and Taco Bell. For a more traditional setting, the Pomegranate Theatre and Cinema hosts regular shows and cinematic events for all the family.

Chesterfield Museum and Art Gallery that tells the story of the town from its beginnings to the present day. Offering free entry and a variety of activities available for children it is the perfect option for a day out.

TRANSPORT LINKS

Chesterfield has great commuter links, the Junction 29 of the M1 is just 4 miles away and the major A61 road runs right through the town taking you straight to Sheffield one way or Derby in the other direction.

Chesterfield Train Station is on the East Midland’s Mainline, rail lines run straight to London St Pancras station from Sheffield. There are regular services and several destinations that can be reached direct, or with minimal changes from Chesterfield Train Station.
